Happy Holidays!

Happy Holidays Friends!

Wishing you peace and joy this holiday season! This time of year brings contagious excitement, celebrated traditions, and precious time to slow down and be with loved ones. I am grateful. But for me, it’s also a time of high emotions, missing those I’ve lost, domestic busyness, (not my strength), and temptations to disregard my health and wellness priorities. It can be stressful! This holiday season, I’m focused on staying well-ish! Here are some strategies I’ve implemented to mitigate the risk of a massive holiday meltdown!

  1. Daily movement. Even 10 minutes of walking can lower stress levels and improve mood. A walk with a loved one over the holidays is a perfect way to connect and have quality 1:1 time together.

  2. Morning gratitude practice. I’m writing down three things I am grateful for each morning. Studies show this is a wonderful way to decrease stress and anxiety.

  3. Eat and drink in moderation. While a little indulging is fine, eating and drinking in moderation can be helpful for managing the stress of the holidays. Importantly, some can experience increased feelings of anxiety after drinking alcohol. Hangxiety is a real thing!

  4. Go with the flow. I can get anxious when my regular routine is turned upside down. This year I’m reminding myself that disruption is temporary.

Wellish Living means that while the holidays are a beautiful time to celebrate, it's okay to be glad when they are over. I know some of you feel the exact same way! From our family to yours, happy holidays everyone! Stay well-ish!
